Electrical Fire Prevention
Over 2,500 people are killed or injured as a result of electrical fires every year.
The Institute for Electrical Engineers (IEE) write the UK wiring regulations, their recommendation is that domestic houses are inspected every 10 years.
Having an inspection does not cost any more than a service on a medium sized car, yet will help in safeguarding you, your family and your most expensive asset - your house.
Many houses have old fuse boxes, although these are probably still doing the same job they were designed to do, they will not disconnect the electricity under fault conditions as a new one will, and do not forget, you may be the cause of the fault. A new fuse box could disconnect you from the electricity in a fraction of a second.
There is a missconception that changing the fuse board for a new one would be massively expensive, and need the whole house to be rewired, this is incorrect. Many houses built in the last 30 years would only need to have the fusebox replaced, as the cabling is good for another 30 years.
But how do I know?
The easiest way is to pay for a Periodic Inspection Report, this will take most of a day to complete properly, and will test your entire electrical fixed wiring system, this will give you an idea if it is still performing as it should in a safe manner. If there are any recommendations to bring it up to date, they will be listed giving a code as to their priority.
