Electrical Wiring &
Re-Wiring
Due to the high level of electrical devices continuously added to modern buildings, it’s likely any existing wiring could be detrimentally pressurised.
Electrical Wiring Specialists
At Cambs Electrical, we provide a comprehensive rewiring service to residential and commercial premises throughout Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas, providing everything from initial survey to the safe installation of new wiring. Whether you’re simply extending a property or are considering moving into an older house or premises, we’ll take care of everything to ensure your wiring is functioning as new.

When is Rewiring Needed?
Generally speaking, we would always advocate that wiring is updated either partially or entirely, if it exceeds 25-30 years, to ensure it is compliant with the latest safety regulations. However, more periodic inspection is recommended at least every 10 years for an owner-occupied dwelling and five years for a rental property or at the change of tenancy.
A full or partial rewire might also be required if you’re planning major renovation work that would be defined as a ‘material alteration’ by the Building Regulations, perhaps moving or adding sockets, light fittings and large electrical items. Rewires are best done in two phases (pre plaster/fix 1) and fix 2 (lights, switches etc).
